Newborn and Child First Aid
What you’ll learn:
In this workshop you will learn first aid basics for common illnesses and injuries of childhood including burns, choking, CPR, breathing difficulties, seizures and anaphylaxis.
There will be some practical components to the workshop, and participants will walk away with some handy materials and tips for handling emergencies in the home.
Pre-crawling babies are welcome to attend!

Private first-aid group classes:
Private first-aid group classes are available if you have a group of up to 12 we can organise a private session for you on a weekday, or for an additional fee on a weekend.
Investment: $700/$800 weekend rate

Fourth Trimester Workshop
Have you ever heard a parent say ‘I wish I had learnt more about what happens after the birth“? We have, and we’ve built a course for parents-to-be to learn all about what to expect in the ‘fourth trimester’. This workshop is ideal for anyone in their last trimester of pregnancy, to help with expectations of early parenthood.

What is normal in newborn sleep
Development in the first 12 weeks
Learning how your baby communicates
Recreating the womb: Settling strategies
Building your relationship with your baby
Expectations of parenthood and breastfeeding
Matrescence + Patrescence

Investment: $150 per couple.

Time: 4 hours of content (either split over two evenings, or on one weekend day with a break in the middle.)

Breastfeeding Workshop
Our breastfeeding education class is facilitated by one of MAMA’s experienced lactation consultants and held over two hours in an intimate group of a maximum of 8 pregnant women (plus one support person per woman is highly recommended) .
What you’ll learn:
Why breastfeeding
Breasts & hormones
Skin-to-skin and the first breastfeed
Feeding cues
Positioning and attachment
Hand expressing
Signs of adequate intake
Bottles & breast pumps
Common challenges and troubleshooting
Plus, there will be time for questions, and you go home with helpful handouts for future reference.
Who should attend a breastfeeding class?
ANYONE! Particularly if you are expecting your first baby or have had difficulty breastfeeding in the past.
Why attend a breastfeeding class?
Attend our class to arm yourself with up-to-date and evidence-based information to help you on your way to a positive and successful breastfeeding journey.
Investment:
$175 per pregnant woman (includes support person or partner if desired – please note in booking if you intend to bring a support person/partner)
If you are receiving birth support as a MAMA client, you have the opportunity to attend the monthly online breastfeeding workshop for free
Location: Available at Kensington or online via Zoom
Refund Policy:
Due to our small group sizes & high demand, payment is required in full at time of booking & is non-refundable in the event of change of mind, other engagements, forgetting to attend or illness.
Full refunds will only be given for unexpected early births (provided you are less than 36 weeks pregnant at the start of the course).
If you wish to move your booking to another course date, please get in touch at least 7 days before the start of your booked course (space permitting).

In the rare instance that we need to cancel the class (presenter illness, minimum booking numbers not reached etc), we will contact you 3-5 business days prior to the class. We will aim to facilitate you joining another class, or offer a full refund if this is not possible.
