Hi, I’m Sarina Keam, Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist. I am a passionate and experienced Chinese Medicine practitioner with over 10 years of clinical practice. I have vast experience treating women’s health, pregnancy, birth and beyond. It brings me great joy and satisfaction to be able to help and support women through these journeys.
There are many conditions that may arise in pregnancy such as nausea, pelvic and back pain, breech presentation that Chinese Medicine can help treat. Birth preparation treatments weekly from 36 weeks can be extremely helpful to prepare your body for birth. Being a Mum to 3 children has given me much insight and empathy into the journey of motherhood.
I graduated with degrees in Chinese Medicine and Human Biology from RMIT University in 2006. I combine Acupuncture alongside diet and lifestyle advice to help you feel better throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
I am registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and AACMA (Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association). I am a registered provider with all major health funds.

Alice Coyle SRN, SCM, BSc (Anth), MSc Therapeutic Counselling Counsellor PACFA Reg Provisional 24118 (Australia), MBACP (UK) Alice trained as a nurse in Melbourne and then as a midwife in the UK. After several years of practice in the NHS, she left to practise independently in a partnership based in south London. Over the next 18 years she worked with women wanting continuity of care throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. She attended births at home and in hospital, in water and on dry land, working with each woman to provide a service firmly rooted within the context of her individual family, work and social circumstances. Alice has mentored newly trained midwives setting up in independent practice, and delivered lectures and workshops that dealt with professional matters, clinical challenges and psychosocial aspects of self-employment and independent practice. She designed and taught birth preparation and parenting classes, and helped set up the first aqua-natal classes in the UK. Fascinated by how change affects people so differently, Alice studied Anthropology in London and then retrained as a counsellor there. She worked with a diverse clientele in a variety of settings. As a qualified integrative counsellor, her initial focus is to build a trusting relationship with each client to enable them to work together on the issues that brought the client to counselling. She is then able to draw on skills from many different ‘schools’ to individualise her approach for their work together. She offers short-, medium- and long-term therapy sessions. Kay has been in homeopathy practice for over 13 years. She has a particular interest in women’s and children’s health including supporting women through pregnancy, childbirth and during the post-natal period. Her experience includes treating morning sickness, ligament pains, heartburn, varicose veins, constipation and other complaints in pregnancy; pre-birth preparation to support natural child birth, and providing birth kits to assist with labour, after pains and general recovery from childbirth. Homeopathy can be very effective in successfully turning babies pre-birth and in getting labour established in situations where either nothing is happening or the labour stops and starts but fails to establish.
She also has experience in treating many of the issues that can occur in the post-natal and breast feeding time ranging from painful haemorrhoids, mastitis, sore nipples and thrush, to the persistent low mood or ongoing exhaustion that some mothers can experience post-natally.
Newborn babies, toddlers and older children all respond very well to homeopathic remedies and find them very easy to take, dispensed either as drops or sugar pills.
Kay also enjoys educating parents in the use of homeopathy to treat minor complaints for both themselves and their children. More recently, she has written “Homeopathic Medicine for Children” – a reference guide for treating the common complaints of childhood, which provides simple, straightforward instructions so parents can gain confidence in successfully using a range of homeopathic remedies to treat their children for minor illnesses.
Kay provides safe and effective care for general complaints as well as those specifically related to pregnancy, labour and the post-natal period. She treats a wide range of conditions from acute complaints such as coughs & colds, teething pain, colic and gastro to more chronic or recurring conditions such as sinusitis, hay fever, hormonal disorders, digestive disorders, fatigue, anxiety and other mental/emotional states.
Homeopathy is a natural, gentle and holistic medicine, ideal for use in pregnancy as well as offering a great solution for families who prefer a more natural and holistic approach to their family’s health. It can generally be used in conjunction with other treatments and medications without adverse effects.

Sonya is absolutely passionate about the natural healing properties of essential oils and their ability to promote health and wellbeing, on both a physical and psychological level. Sonya completed a certificate of aromatherapy in 2001 and then a diploma of clinical aromatherapy and massage in 2004. She is also a registered nurse and practising midwife, a certified pregnancy massage therapist, a certified infant massage instructor and mother of two girls. Sonya is an accredited professional member of IAAMA (International Aromatherapy & Aromatic Medicine Association) and keeps up to date with current research and trends.
Based on her experience and particular interest in women and children she set up her company Mother Nurture to focus on personalised, natural care of mothers, mothers to be and their families primarily with the use of aromatherapy and massage. Sonya feels essential oils were a valuable (maybe even essential!) adjunct in enhancing her own wellbeing during two pregnancies and births, and for getting through just about every day since! Aromatherapy is an integral part of daily life for Sonya’s family and she loves being able to empower mums to care for themselves and soothe their children with aromatic treatments.
Sonya offers the following treatment options at MAMA:-
Aromatherapy Consultation (30mins)
A thorough consultation is taken to determine your physical and psychological health to ensure essential oil treatments can be prescribed specific to your needs. Consultation is recommended, but not necessary, prior to massage to maximise effects of the treatment. Alternatively, there are some instances that may be conducive to consultation and prescription of aromatherapy treatments other than massage, e.g. morning sickness, skin disorders, emotional issues, babies & children.
Aromatherapy Massage (60mins or 45mins)
More than a massage, this nurturing, aromatic treatment will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Time is precious these days. Sonya encourages you to really disconnect from the world with a combination of essential oils and massage specific to your needs.
Sonya is available for consultations on Mondays and Wednesdays at MAMA Kensington.visit www.mothernurture.net.au for more information on Sonya’s practice

“I have over 15 years of experience working with children in which time I have become passionate about optimizing an infant’s development. I undertook my paediatric training program at The Royal Children’s Hospital. I went on to complete my Doctorate at The University of Melbourne in 2013 focusing on motor development in children born prematurely. I have worked in many clinical settings including Neonatal Intensive Care Units and developmental assessment clinics in which I have specialized in early infant and childhood development particularly in high risk infants such as those born preterm and those with neurological impairments.
I believe it is important to practice within a family based model of care and I support and have had many roles in ongoing clinical research and teaching in providing evidence based practice within the paediatric physiotherapy profession. I have professional collaboration with a range of medical and health professionals in the hospital and community settings.
I hold monthly Baby Moves and Infant Massage classes teaching parents the techniques and benefits of positive touch and massage. I also discuss tips for tummy time, positioning and play to assist in your baby’s development.
I look forward to seeing you in one of my classes or contact me if you have any concerns with your baby’s development.”

practitioner: Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy (also known as Aquatic Bodywork) was created in the early 1980’s in California and Europe. Resting back into the arms of the practitioner you are floated, stretched, massaged and moved through warm water (34.5°C). With the use of nose clips you may also be submerged underwater.
Aquatic Therapy offers a calming of the nervous system and greater inner awareness. The gentle nature of water can be highly supportive to pain and physical injuries. Aquatic Therapy is particularly beneficial during pregnancy. Mothers are able to relax deeply whilst experiencing a similar environment to their baby. This opens up another level of communication between mother and child.
There are many benefits including:
- Releasing pain and tension
- Reduction in anxiety and stress levels
- Fuller deeper breathing
- Improved sleep and digestion
- Muscle, joint and spine relaxation
- Increased mobility and flexibility
- Surrendering the body and breath for labour
Rebecca loves working with pregnant mothers offering a new way for them to connect with their baby whilst also preparing their body for the birth experience. She is trained in various Aquatic Therapy modalities including Water Dance, Fluid Presence and Watsu, and has studied extensively with internationally recognised teachers. Sessions are held at a Hydrotherapy Pool in Albert Park. For more information visit rebeccaczapnik.com/water or speak with one of the midwives.
