MAMA’s Lactation team is here for you during pregnancy, the early postpartum period, and beyond. Find out more about them below.

Amanda Mutasa
Amanda has 10 years experience as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and obtained her IBCLC Certification in 2018 during her first maternity leave. The bulk of her experience is working with premature infants or bubs with complex congenital issues. She has a lot of experience in creating feeding/pumping plans and getting baby’s back to the breast after surgeries or illnesses. Breastfeeding isn’t always a straight path, there are a lot of ups and downs and she is excited to help build your confidence in navigating it all.

Sarah Thijs-Smit
** Sarah is on maternity leave from October 2021 **
Sarah has been a qualified midwife since 2012 and practiced in the Netherlands for over 3 years before she and her husband made the move to Australia. Due to the differences between the Dutch and Australian midwifery systems, she hasn’t been able to work as a midwife here in Australia. However, Sarah has been so fortunate to find MAMA and get involved in many different areas. In 2017 Sarah’s first son Hugo was born and in 2018 her second son Jonas. She breastfed them both with so much joy and a couple of hiccups. During her second maternity leave she studied to become a lactation consultant and her mind was blown by all the additional knowledge she got. Now she is very happy to fulfill the position of a Lactation Consultant at MAMA.
