Our breastfeeding education class will be lead by MAMA’s lactation consultants Sarah and Fiona, held over two hours in an intimate group of a maximum of 3 pregnant women (plus a support person for each)
The class will cover the following topics:
- Benefits of breastfeeding;
- How breastfeeding works
- The first breastfeed
- Understanding milk supply
- Positioning and attachment
- What to expect from the breastfed baby
- Common challenges and trouble shooting and the role of support people.
There will also be lots of opportunities to ask questions.
Who should attend a breastfeeding class? ANYONE! Particularly if you are expecting your first baby or have had difficulty breastfeeding in the past.
Why attend a breastfeeding class? Did you know that most babies will breastfeed within an hour of being born? So the best time to learn about breastfeeding is during pregnancy. Attend our class to arm yourself with up-to-date and evidenced based information to help you on your way to a positive and successful breastfeeding journey.
MAMA runs a workshop every month on a Monday night or Saturday morning.
Cost: $150 per (breastfeeding) couple
