Hi there,
I have just completed my 6 week check and discharge from mama and wanted to provide some feedback on my experience.
I engaged with Mama due to my previous difficult birth experience and some of my fears around birthing again. By the end of my first appointment with Josie in Kensington i knew that I had made the right decision. Josie made me feel so comfortable and positive about my birth. She also provided such thorough support throughout my pregnancy journey.
Josie was unfortunately unavailable for my birth, however Josephine attended my home when i was in labour and was present throughout my birth at the hospital. I cannot thank her enough for this support. Josephine advocated for me in moments that I didn’t even realise I needed. I remember clearly the moment that the hospital midwife suggested they get me back on the bed so they could begin monitoring my baby’s heart rate as it was slightly dropping, josephine advocated for them to give me a bit more time in the optimal position i was in. sure enough my baby arrived almost straight after this. This moment was so critical, and she was there for me and my baby when I needed it most.
After my birth i felt over the moon, so happy to have my baby in my arms but also so proud of my body’s ability to birth my baby without all the machines, pain relief, and interventions of my first birth. As this will be my last baby, I did want to feel all the sensations of birth and I certainly got this! I didn’t think I would have had this experience were it not for all the birth prep with josie and other midwives at Mama, amnd Josephine’s amazing support during the birth and labour. This experience really highlighted to me how birth could be, and I only wish every woman had this opportunity of continuity of care and support like what is offered at Mama.
Post birth i had some visits from Rachel, Josephine, Claire and Josie. They were all brilliant, reassuring, and always made me feel like the support was for both me and my baby. I did remember Claire coming in so bright and bubbly and telling me and my husband what an amazing job we were doing. This is exactly what every new parent needs to hear! she is such a gem 🙂
i was sad to say goodbye to Josie today, but also so happy to know someone like her is there to help support women through such a challenging, vulnerable, and beautiful time in their lives. I will be recommending her and the rest of the Mama midwives to any woman expecting!
Sorry for the huge email, i just really wanted to express how much this service meant to me, and what a difference it has made to my early weeks of parenting my new baby girl. Our family have all benefited from the genuine care and support shown by the Mama midwives.
Thank you for the important work you all do!
Best wishes,
Bec, Jake, Artie and Ella.
