I love being a midwife. It is an honour to be with people during such an important and special time in their life. I’m passionate and deeply committed to working in a way that people can access care they feel the safest and strongest with, however that might look for them. My own life experiences, including being queer, have helped me appreciate what a difference this kind of care can make.
After working as a nurse for a few years, I then trained as a midwife in 2009, in Darwin. In the years since, I have worked as a midwife across the NT, in tertiary hospitals, midwifery group practice, publicly funded homebirth services and in remote aboriginal community clinics in the Central Desert. In 2019, I moved to Melbourne to work with the Sunshine Hospital Midwifery Group Practice and most recently, at the Royal Women’s Hospital. I have always been interested in working in private practice and so used the time at home during lockdown in 2020 to finish my studies to become an endorsed midwife. I am excited to join the MAMA team this year!
I love being in nature.
