Rachel was born and raised in the Lake District, England. She obtained her BA (Hons) Midwifery degree from the University of York, England, in 2013. It was during this training that Rachel opted to take a month long elective placement in Melbourne with MAMA, and it was here that planted the seed for her passion for caseloading, home birth and empowering women and their families.
Between 2013-2016, Rachel worked for One to One Midwives in Cheshire, England. This was a pioneering, NHS funded company, set up by a private midwife, transforming maternity care across North West England. Here Rachel provided full continuity of care to women throughout their pregnancies, birth and to six weeks postnatally, within women's own homes. With a high home birth rate of 40%, she gained a lot of experience in home birth and water birth. Rachel also trained as a hypnobirthing teacher in 2014 and has found the teaching of this to be extremely valuable to families.
Rachel moved to Melbourne, Australia in May 2016, to settle in the country she loves. She is thrilled to be working at MAMA, a place she believes can make a difference to maternity care in Victoria, and with midwives who share the same ethos. She believes in providing individualised, holistic care, supporting women in their choices, and staying true to midwifery.
