I am a mother of 4 beautiful children; 3 girls, one being my step daughter, a son plus a cheeky Chocolate Labrador. I have a very supportive partner and we have 2 granddaughters. I used to own a hair salon prior to graduating from a Bachelor of Midwifery degree in 2014. I have since worked in both the private and public sectors and gained valuable knowledge and experience from both. Combine my love, passion and history; you have the Midwife I am today. I have held several positions throughout my career including Associate Midwifery Unit Manager at a busy tertiary hospital and have supported many families throughout their pregnancy journey.
It wasn’t until I helped deliver my granddaughter in an unexpected home birth and that’s when I realised what was missing! I was able to witness an uninterrupted calm birth, while my daughter was surrounded by the people she loves and trusts most. I thought to myself… this is birth. I cradled Oakleigh’s head in my hands while whispering words of encouragement as my daughter breathed her baby out into the world. An unforgettable and beautiful experience which led me to leave the hospital system and become a private practising Midwife at MAMA.
I myself was supported throughout my last pregnancy by Kelly and Jan, so I know from personal experience that MAMA Midwives deliver what all the literature and research suggests; better outcomes for women and babies who are cared for in a continuity of care model. Having a trusted team to support you and your family whether you chose to birth at home or in the hospital environment, is a decision that can change your whole belief around birth and what you, as a woman are truly capable of! Although I have only recently joined the MAMA team, I know that I am finally in the right place to provide midwifery care that all women and babies deserve.
